Welcome to Class 4!
We are a class of year 5 and 6 children, giving everything we’ve got to the final years of our primary school experience. We enjoy our learning with Mr Rickels and we are supported by Mrs Nunn and Mrs Ufton. Our hard work sets an example for the younger children around us and we work very hard to embody the values of our school. As the oldest children in the school, we love using all of the skills we have been taught over our primary school journey!
Have a look below at our year so far and what we are currently learning about!
Our topic for this term was Blue Planet II. We learnt about how important our ocean ecosystems are, including coral reefs. It is imperative that we protect them for future generations and understand that without them, the homes for millions of wildlife would be lost forever.
We studied the work of Scottish artist, Andy Goldsworthy, who creates temporary sculptures using natural materials.
We then searched for natural materials of our own in the forest that matched the different types of coral that we have previously researched about.
We then sorted the natural materials into groups and decided which type of coral that we would create.
We practised matching different colours to our particular coral and then painted our natural materials from the forest with this colour.
We finally painted oasis and stuck our materials into this once it had dried.
We are so proud of our creations and it is an important reminder of how beautiful, yet important the coral ecosystems are to our ever-changing planet.
